CROSS OR CHORUS?
Purify my motives, Lord.
Replace myself with Thyself.
Ah, can You do this painlessly?
So I don’t have to grieve
the death of self.
Replace the cross with a chorus,
so I can sing, not weep;
rejoice, nor mourn;
feel wholeness, not brokenness.
Or . . .
Perhaps the cross and the chorus
go together.
For . . .
without the cross
there’d be no chorus.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
